Santo Niño Portal es un lugar de oración y meditación.
Situado junto a la Capilla del Santo Niño de Atocha,
las imágenes religiosas recuerdan la infancia de Jesús
y la espiritualidad de la humildad y la sencillez: Zacarías
e Isabel, san Francisco de Asís, Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús,
los reyes magos Melchor, Gaspar y Baltasar.
HOLY DIRT REQUEST
The well of holy dirt is in a small room. To touch the holy dirt, you have to kneel as Bernardo Abeyta did when he found in this spot the crucifix of the Christ of Esquipulas on Good Friday of 1810.
Testimonies of pilgrims go back to 1810. Many people rub the holy dirt to areas of the body in need of healing. Visitors bring holy dirt to their sick loved ones back home. Upon leaving the holy dirt spot, the visitor enters another room with photos, prayers, and testimonies of pilgrims.
Since the 1960s, flagstone covered the floor because pilgrims carried holy dirt to their sick relatives and friends, and the room began to sink. The earth hole is filled with sand from the hills around the chapel from then on.

ENVÍOS DE TIERRITA:
El pocito de tierra está una habitación de dimensiones muy
reducidas. Para tocar la tierra bendita hay que arrodillarse como hiciera Bernardo Abeyta al encontrar aquí el crucifijo del Cristo de Esquipulas el Viernes Santo de 1810.
Los testimonios de los peregrinos se remontan a 1810. Muchos aplican la tierra del pocito a las zonas de su cuerpo que necesitan curación. Otros llevan tierrita a un enfermo. Al salir del Pocito se accede a otra habitación con fotos, oraciones y testimonios de los peregrinos.
En la década de 1960, se instalaron baldosas porque los peregrinos llevaban tierra bendita a sus enfermos y el suelo de la habitación comenzó a descender. A partir de entonces, el pocito se llena con tierra de las colinas de los alrededores del Santuario.
