Una peregrinación es un viaje por quitar obstáculos que podemos encontrar entre nosotros y Dios. A menudo una peregrinación responde al deseo de dejar que Dios guíe nuestros pasos. Una peregrinación no debe realizarse a la ligera pero tampoco debe realizarse con temor. Ha de ser un viaje de alegría y discernimiento.
Las iglesias del norte de Nuevo México han sido tanto comienzo co-mo destino de peregrinaciones durante cientos de años. El camino a estas iglesias conduce al peregrino a través de una tierra poblada de ríos, árboles y montañas, que han sido el destino espiritual de pueblos antiguos mucho antes de que existieran las iglesias.
Es una ruta muy bella, pero los peregrinos que no están acostumbra-dos a caminar por encima de los 6.000 pies de altura deben tomar precauciones y aclimatarse antes de intentar una larga peregrinación a pie. Hay varias comunidades a lo largo de la ruta pero, al salir de estas comunidades, a menudo no hay servicios de descanso.
Algunas consideraciones de planificación

Viajes en grupo: Viajar en grupo u organizar un viaje a través de un Bed & Breakfast puede ayudarlo con la logística: encontrar comida, estacionar su automóvil y organizar el alojamiento.
A pilgrimage is a journey to remove obstacles we may find between us and God. Often, though, a pilgrimage responds to the desire of letting God guide our footsteps. A pilgrimage should not be undertaken lightly but neither should it be undertaken in fear. It is intended to be a journey of joy and discernment.
The churches of northern New Mexico have been both a beginning and destination for pilgrimages for hundreds of years. The journey to these churches will take you through an ancient land of rivers, trees and beautiful mountains that have, themselves, been the spiritual destination of ancient peoples long before the churches existed.
It is a beautiful route but those pilgrims unused to walking in elevations above 6,000 feet should take precautions and acclimatize themselves prior to attempting a long pilgrimage on foot. There are several small communities along the route but, as you leave these communities, food, water and rest facilities are often unavailable.
Some Planning Considerations
Accommodations: Ensure you have accommodations for lodging arranged ahead of time. Accommodations may be difficult to arrange on short notice.
Access to Churches: Access to some of the churches may be difficult, especially those in Nambe, Cordova, Truchas and Las Trampas. Make arrangements ahead of time if you wish to visit these churches.
You can contact us ahead of time to help in this regard. Normally we will require a minimum number of pilgrims before we are able to arrange for visits inside of some churches. Be considerate of the people of these communities and do not interrupt scheduled church services or activities.
Group Travel: Travelling in groups or arranging travel through a Bed & Breakfast can help with logistics problems such as finding food, parking your car, and arranging lodging.
